Methods to prevent milling cutter wear

The design manufacturer of the forming tool said that the basic wear law of the milling tool is similar to that of the turning tool. The cutting thickness of high-speed tungsten steel milling cutter is relatively small, especially in up milling, the cutter teeth extrude and slide severely on the surface of the workpiece, so the milling cutter wear will occur behind. When milling steel parts with tungsten steel face milling cutter, due to the high cutting speed, the chip sliding speed along the front is high, so the rear is worn together, and the front is also worn slightly.
When the milling cutter performs high-speed intermittent cutting, the cutter teeth are subjected to repeated mechanical and thermal shocks, resulting in cracks and fatigue damage of the cutter teeth. The higher the milling speed, the earlier and more severe the milling cutter wear. Most tungsten steel face milling cutters lose their cutting ability due to fatigue damage. If the geometric angle of the milling cutter is selected unreasonably or used improperly, and the strength of the cutter teeth is poor, the cutter teeth will be worn without cracks after bearing a large impact force.
Reasonable selection of milling parameters: under some processing conditions, there is an operation area without damage. Select Vc and π z in the operation area to ensure the normal operation of the milling cutter and avoid wear of the milling cutter. Reasonably select the relative orientation between the workpiece and the milling cutter: Reasonably select the orientation of the face milling cutter device plays an important role in reducing the wear of the face milling cutter.
